If anyone else has had success in using it with Dell's CERC-SATA1.5/6ch raid controller, please let me know. Last edited by icsf on Wed Feb 12, 2014 9:33 pm, edited 1 time in total. Am running Centons 6.5 on Dell PowerEdge 1800, with Dell's Cerc SATA 1.5/6ch Raid controller.Raid was configured for Raid 5 under older OS; when I installed Centos 6 I used LVM tools (as per http://www.howtoforge.com/linux_lvm) to wipe old partitions, and create lv_root, lv_swap and lv_home partitions. Left original Raid configuration as is. All is working fine, but want to enable logging of raid errors, etc. by Centos, and be able to check status of raid disks, so I can detect when I start to have disk problems in the raid system.

Dell's User Guide for this mentions installing a CLI to manage and check status of Raid system, with an rpm called 'afaapps', but I have not been able to locate this on Dell's site, or elsewhere. Appear to be some references for older RHELs (3, 4) but nothing I can find for RHEL6/Centos6. Since the manual is >10yrs old, I suspect that package is long obsolete.Dell Cerc Sata 1.5/6ch Raid Controller Driver Download Lbp
Have installed Dell's OpenManage, onlinediags and toolkit, perviewtopic.php?t=4009
https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/OMSA_7.4.0/
http://centosfreaks.wordpress.com/2012/ .. penmanage/
but none of them report the presence of the Raid controller. Output from fdisk (showing lvm partitions) and Dell's omreport attached, showing no controllers or virtual disks detected; but 'omreport system summary' able to detect other hardware such as NIC, and detect presence of Raid controller in PCI slot.

I suspect that the linux LVM software has masked the presence of the physical devices (controller & disks) from the utilities.
Any suggestions on how to proceed would be helpful.
Any suggestions on other utilities to monitor RAID system known to work with a setup such as mine would be appreciated.
Thanks
